Ringstone Edge Reservoir
is a small Upland reservoir situated just outside Barkisland on the B6113 Saddleworth Road, Grid Reference SE044184.  It is walled nearly all the way round, except for the North shore which is open and shallow with some good cover for wading birds.
The Main road goes around the East and South shore and there is ample parking to stop and look across the reservoir.
There is no access on to the reservoir.
In 2004 Halifax Bird Watching Club, received funding to improve the habitat on the North shore for wading birds.  In October of that year, work began on some new pools and scrapes.
Over the years Ringstone Edge has attracted many wading birds on passage. Hopefully the new pools will encourage them to stay a bit longer and possibly breed.
